The ANZ Hernia Society is a RACS-endorsed craft group, designed to provide a professional forum for all surgeons and related practitioners who have a focus on the diagnosis and treatment of the full range of Hernias and Abdominal Wall defects.
ANZ Hernia will provide collaborative events and activities to further knowledge in the field of hernia treatment. It will advocate on behalf of the Hernia Surgery community to government and other authorities.
The conference will be held at the W Hotel Brisbane on Friday, 30 August 2024 until Saturday, 31 August 2024.
There will be a cadaver lab session at MERF on Thursday, 29 August 2024 in the morning
The Conference is open to all RACS Fellows and Trainees with an interest in developments in the diagnosis and treatment of all forms of Hernias, from simple umbilical repairs to complex Abdominal Wall Repairs. Open, Laparoscopic and Robotic approaches will be covered.
The Conference will be accredited for RACS CPD Points.
No, places at the Cadaver Lab are strictly limited and there is a cost involved.
Three robotic systems will be demonstrated at the Conference, including Da Vinci, Versius and Hugo.
We have arranged the conference so that delegates will be free to enjoy Fathers' Day on Sunday September 1 with their families.
We have also secured a prime evening viewing location for the Riverfire celebrations on Saturday August 31. Delegates are invited to bring the families to this event (note that there is an additional cost for tickets to this event).
The conference hotel is just across the river from Southbank, with endless fun and activities available. Please refer to Social Events.
Riverfire is an annual celebration held in various locations along the Brisbane River, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display, centred on the Story Bridge and using various other CBD locations.
We have secure a prime riverside location near the bridge, from which to enjoy the festivities. Places are limited and family members are welcome to join delegates.
This is a fully catered event with food, drinks and alcohol included.
A bus will transport delegates and their families from the W Hotel at completion of the conference on Saturday 31/8/24.
There is a cost involved as this is a premier event.
